If so, we invite you to apply for our Database Analyst position in the Department of Pathology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Here you will work on two related NIH-funded projects for Bioinformatics Resource Centers for Infectious Diseases (BRC).RESPONSIBILITIES
With an emphasis on community outreach, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance and extension of the Virus Pathogen Database and Analysis Resource BRC (ViPR) and the Influenza Research Database (IRD). You will interact with the scientific community through various activities, such as hosting workshops and exhibit booths about ViPR and IRD at scientific meetings and providing online demonstrations to select research groups.REQUIREMENTS
- Requires Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, basic science or computer-related field plus 2 years of experience working with maintaining large complex databases
- A basic working knowledge of bioinformatics related to genomics and/or proteomics data and public database resources, such as NCBI Entrez/GenBank, EBI ArrayExpress, PDB, IEDB etc.
PREFERENCES
- Laboratory research experience in virology, immunology or related disciplines, especially related to NIH-defined Category A-C viral pathogens is preferred.
