    Opportunity: BIOINFORMATICS Engineer (#INFO837) @ J. Craig Venter Institute--Rockville, MD (US)

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Bioinformatics Engineer will be responsible for providing support for Eukaryotic Genomics Affinity Group. Main responsibilities will be the development of new components with the JCVI web services environment and the integration of these components into user-configurable annotation pipelines.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Successful candidate will possess a BA/BS in computer science or BA/BS in biological science and MS in Bioinformatics or Computer Science.
    • Familiarity with several computer languages including Perl, SQL and web page development
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to collaborate across a multi-disciplinary team, and work independently

    PREFERENCES

    • Previous experience in manipulation of large-scale biological data sets, especially as pertaining to eukaryotes is highly desirable.
