    BACKGROUND

    SRA conducts, coordinates, and analyzes clinical and experimental studies to inform health research. This practice area addresses preventative, diagnostic, and therapeutic issues in a public health context, including research in cancer, asthma, allergies, diabetes, infectious diseases, genomics, nutrition, reproductive health, and environmental health.

    Project Overview SRA seeks a Bioinformatics Scientist to direct a scientific research program and facilities in a biomedical and clinical setting. The successful scientist will lead a team of bioinformaticists and IT engineers in collaborating with our Atlanta client to develop bioinformatics analyses, systems and pipelines. Key Responsibilities include team leadership, client communications, directing and performing next generation bioinformatics sequence analysis.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Successful candidate will work with a team of scientists and bioinformaticians to support the collection, analysis and validation of next generation sequence data. This will involve data handling and development of workflows, evaluating the results and collaboratively adjusting parameters of pipelines as needed. Collaboration with our client scientific community is a key component.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Years of experience (min): 1-2
    • Degree: Masters. Required degree may be waived in lieu of relevant years of work experience.
    • Skills: Strong molecular biology background, bioinformatics experience in next generation sequence data (SOLiD, Illumina/Solexa, 454 Roche)
    • Proven experience one or more of Python, PERL, Java, C/C++, or R
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
