BACKGROUND
A brand new research program on Pathogen Genomics has been initiated at the Computational Biology Research Centre (CBRC) in King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. The focus of this research program is to use high-throughput sequencing and other functional genomic technologies to understand biology and population diversity of several important pathogens of significant impact on human and animal health. Within this program, a combination of high-throughput DNA sequencing technology platforms coupled with functional genomics and bioinformatics tools will be used to understand genetic make-up and dynamics of genome variation in a number of viral, bacterial, fungal and protozoan pathogens.
The overall goal of the program is to establish KAUST as a Centre of Excellence of research on genomic epidemiology of pathogens and pathogen vectors that are of particular relevance to the Middle East and also to the wider world. Most of the projects will be undertaken in active collaboration with regional and international partners. KAUST has a state-of-art genomics facility to support research activities on large-scale high-throughput sequencing, microarrays and mass spectrometry-based research on proteomics, cellular imaging and a high-end NMR facility.REQUIREMENTS
Several bioinformatician positions are available at various levels (post-doctoral & pre-doctoral) within this program. Applications are invited from experienced post-docs and bioinformaticians with familiarity/expertise on any one or more of the following areas:
- High-throughput sequencing and assembly
- Evolutionary genomics and analysis of genome variation
- Database development
COMPENSATION
The positions come with an internationally competitive salary and benefits package.LOCALE
