    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Genentech's Research division seeks individuals with strong software development and managerial skills combined with excellent communication abilities to develop solutions to a set of challenging problems in research. The role offers the unique ability to work on all aspects of software development in close contact with the users.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Applicants must have a scientific degree (Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biology, Computational Biology, etc.) and at least five years of experience.
    • The successful candidate should be fluent in several programming languages, especially Java (including J2EE, GWT, Swing and web programming frameworks), SQL and PL/SQL, Javascript and other web technologies.
    • Applicants should be aware of and interested in exploring new technologies and should have experience in web development and interface design.
    • Experience in database design and technologies, along with experience in object- oriented design and other application and programming design technologies is vital.
    • The successful candidate should have outstanding verbal and written communication skills and be able to work independently.
    • In addition, all applicants should have several years experience managing people and projects.
    • Successful candidates will have a demonstrated track record of successful software development projects, preferably in a scientific environment.
    • The ability to thrive in a challenging, dynamic and team oriented environment is critical.
