RESPONSIBILITIES
The School of Medical Sciences and the Bioinformatics Institute at the University of Auckland require a Research Fellow with both bioinformatics and biological science experience. The successful applicant will assist biomedical researchers with the design and analysis of experiments that involve next generation sequencing and microarrays, and in the extraction of biologically and clinically meaningful information from these experiments for publication. They will also be involved in bioinformatics education programs for biologists and clinicians. We envisage that a part of their working hours will be set aside for their own research projects and they would be encouraged to obtain funding for these projects. Ideally, the applicant will also be capable of assisting with molecular biology work such as library preparation for sequencing or the labelling of templates for microarray analysis.REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants should have a PhD in bioinformatics or molecular biology and ideally will have a track record of peer-reviewed publications in which their bioinformatics skills have been applied to biological or biomedical problems.
- While this position is intended for scientists within five years of PhD graduation, we may also be able to consider applicants who are more senior for other positions.
