    BACKGROUND

    The Bioinformatics and BioStatistics group (BABS) as part of Cancer Research UK's (CRUK) London Research Institute (LRI), provides collaborative support to institute scientists by analysing data generated from high-throughput technologies such as microarrays and next-generation sequencers. Additionally the group provides expertise in the areas of biostatistics, and genomics.

    Cancer Research UK is a charitable organisation which is publicly funded and is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    This is an infrastructure post and will provide support for, the Advanced Sequencing Facility's Illumina sequencers, and software used by both BABS and researchers. The role will be primarily responsible for Linux System Administration, Web services and Database Administration. There will also be the opportunity to be involved in data analysis projects.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • You should possess: at least a BSc in a subject area relevant to computing or bioinformatics.
    • SysAdmin skills and the ability to program and script
    • In addition, good communication skills are essential as the post will involve working closely with research scientists and other bioinformaticians.

    PREFERENCES

    • Previous work experience within a scientific environment

    TERMS

    This is a permanent position.

    LOCALE

    The LRI is situated in Central London UK.

    COMPENSATION

    Salary range £25000-£32000
