BACKGROUND
The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is a world leader in genomic research, with an expanding scientific programme dedicated to understanding gene function in health & disease.
As part of the Sanger Pathogen Genetics Programme, we are building a software platform to process, analyse and explore huge amounts of genomic data that could be the key to eradicating several diseases which are prolific in the developing world. Our team is involved in a number of major high profile collaborations worldwide investigating methods for developing vaccines against typhoid, dysentery, malaria, and tuberculosis by way of large-scale clinical epidemiology and cutting-edge sequencing technology. We are combining this with novel and user-friendly web applications to manage, analyze and share this data.
The massive size of our datasets generates issues of scalability and performance on all levels, from data storage to front end. It is our aim to provide universal access to our data for the general scientific community; therefore our platform is completely oriented to the web and should be flexible enough to be used with several different organism genomes. We offer to our users, amongst other things, real-time analysis, visualization and data management tools.REQUIREMENTS
