    BACKGROUND

    Sanford-Burnham Institute for Medical Research at Lake Nona (Orlando) is an independent, not-for-profit biomedical research institution dedicated to advancing the frontiers of scientific knowledge in life sciences and medicine, and providing the foundation for tomorrow's innovative therapies. Sanford-Burnham has recently finished building 175,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art laboratory facilities for over 300 faculty and staff. The Lake Nona/Orlando site will feature several outstanding technology cores, and faculty will undertake discovery research in several fields, including launching a new center devoted to diabetes & obesity research. Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute is currently seeking a full time Core Manager for its Analytical Genomics Core Facility.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The candidate will provide laboratory support, manage the work flow and maintain day to day communication with Principal Investigators and research staff. Applicants must possess an excellent knowledge of the principles and theories of molecular biology and must possess excellent analytical, organization, communication, and computer skills. Previous experience in next generation sequencing (sequencing core position) and gene expression arrays and in DNA/RNA and molecular cloning is a requirement. Candidates must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, able to handle responsibility and possess good interpersonal skills.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Ph.D. or a MS degree with a minimum of five or more years of experience working in a laboratory environment is required.
