    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities include carrying out advanced research projects by using genomics and bioinformatics tools to support and accomplish research projects assigned by Principle Investigator; accomplishing assigned duties independently, effectively, and creatively under general supervision; conducting comparative genomics analysis of grapevines; processing large volumes of sequence data; constructing relational database for the genomics project; analyzes and publishes results.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Master's degree in a scientific discipline is required. Master of Science in Bioinformatics and three years of working experience in Bioinformatics or Ph. D. majoring in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology is preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of bioinformatics, genomics and molecular biology; substantial skills and experience in processing large volumes of genome-size sequences; and strong background in using informatics tools for sequence analysis, processing, and storing in a UNIX operating system are required.
    • Additional requirements include effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff, as well as to communicate effectively with off-campus collaborators; and proficiency with basic spreadsheet, graphics, and word processing software.
    • Ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required

    TERMS

    This position is grant-funded.

    COMPENSATION

    $38,000/annually
