BACKGROUND
SRA conducts, coordinates, and analyzes clinical and experimental studies to inform health research. This practice area addresses preventative, diagnostic, and therapeutic issues in a public health context, including research in cancer, asthma, allergies, diabetes, infectious diseases, genomics, nutrition, reproductive health, and environmental health.RESPONSIBILITIES
Assembles, manipulates, converts, performs quality control and analyzes data from large microarray genomic studies; using appropriate statistical methods to support biostatistical analysis of the research team. Data files and analytic processes must be organized and sufficient documentation provided to allow others to reproduce the results. Uses technical discretion within defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for determining approaches or obtaining solutions. Provides technical advice and operating assistance in interpreting results, provides input and prepares technical reports based on the expert interpretation of analyzed data.REQUIREMENTS
- Masters or PhD degree in statistics, or closely related field.
- Proven work experience in daily creating and applying appropriate microarray statistical analyses to large datasets with one or more of the following or related statistical packages: JMP, SAS, R, MATLAB.
- Familiarity or ability to quickly master JMP statistical package is a strong plus as use of this program is required for the position.
- Ability to adapt and implement defined statistical methods in client specified language or package is required.
- Efficient interaction and communication with scientific team members is critical.
- Documented strong English communication skills (both written and verbal) are required.
PREFERENCES
- Experience in scripting languages such as Perl, Python and Awk is also a benefit.
- Software coding experience in multiple languages is strongly preferred.
