BACKGROUND
Chapman University seeks a faculty member to fill a full time tenure track position as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Computational Biology in the School of Computational Sciences. The school offers a B.S. degree in Physics and Computational Science and an M.S. degree in Computational Science. The school is currently developing a PhD degree in Computational Science. Housed in the Schmid College of Science, the School of Computational Sciences is deeply committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching, including providing students with personalized educational experiences involving mentoring and collaborative research.RESPONSIBILITIES
- The successful applicant will be expected to carry a rigorous research program, including grants and refereed publications.
- Teaching load will consist of 3 to 4 courses per year, depending on seniority and research record.
- The successful candidate is expected to work with graduate students and participate in undergraduate teaching.
REQUIREMENTS
- Requirements include a PhD in computational biology, or computer science, or related science fields, with sufficient expertise in computational biology, to fit within the school of computational sciences.
PREFERENCES
- Outstanding applicants in all areas of computational biology will be considered, but research areas of special interest include dynamical behavior at the sub-cellular and cellular levels; computational molecular biology; neuronal networks in biological systems; or applications of machine learning to biological problems.
