    Opportunity: Sr. Storage Architect / Admin for NIH/NHGRI @ Digicon Corporation--Bethesda, MD (US)

    BACKGROUND

    Digicon Corporation, established in 1985, is a full-service Information Technology Integrator and Solutions Provider to both government and commercial customers. Digicon employs approximately 300 employees throughout the Washington metropolitan area, as well as several other major cities across the nation.

    We are currently in search for a Sr. Storage Architect/Admin to work at our client site, NIH/NHGRI (National Human Genome Research Institute) in Bethesda, MD. This is a full-time employee position with Digicon Corporation.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Provide integration and support services for one of Digicon's NIH client's mass storage and backup infrastructure, with a special focus on the multi-petabyte NextGen Sequencing Project. The storage infrastructure consists of NetApp, Nexsan, Data Domain, Bluearc, Isilion, Sun, Coraid, and other storage technologies, and houses both scientific and administrative data for the Institute.

    In addition to the integration and day-to-day administration of the existing mass storage infrastructure, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the evaluation, testing, configuration and deployment of new mass storage hardware and software.

    The successful candidate will be required to identify and develop diagnostics and monitoring tools to help manage and assume the integrity of the storage systems. The storage resource is also responsible for helping to identify and streamline mass storage data flow, and provide tools to organize and formalize workflow. He/she will troubleshoot and diagnose system software and hardware faults and work with developers and hardware experts to resolve them. The candidate will develop expertise in the specific operational details of the mass storage system to tune them for optimal use. Will be the liaison with researchers and investigators to determine their immediate and future needs, and will communicate Mass Storage issues and plans to employees and/or upper level management, as needed.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Written and oral communication and presentation skills; must speak fluent English
    • Experience in analysis, planning, implementation and maintenance of large-scale mass storage infrastructures
    • Ability to anlyzie and generate enterprise-level storage project, and present plans to customers
    • In-depth knowledge of storage technologies including fiber channel, iscsi, NFS, CIFS, infiniband
    • Knowedge and skills with storage-related monitoring, management, and policy tools
    • Experience with enterprise backup systems and storage, especially Legato Networker and/or NetApp Snapmirror and Snapvault
    • Skills in the major operating system platforms, Windows, Linux, Mac, Solaris
    • Prefer direct experience with two more more of the following: NetApp, Bluearc, Isilon, DataDomain, Coraid
    • Prefer experience with Linux LVM and other smaller scale storage infrastructures as well
    • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Physical Science, or equivalent experience required.
    All candidates must be authorized to work in the US for any employer and able to pass a background check. No relocation assistance is available.
