    Opportunity: Linux Administrator for NIH/NHGRI @ Digicon Corporation--Bethesda, MD (US)

    BACKGROUND

    Digicon Corporation, established in 1985, is a full-service Information Technology Integrator and Solutions Provider to both government and commercial customers. Digicon employs approximately 300 employees throughout the Washington metropolitan area, as well as several other major cities across the nation.

    We are currently in search for a Unix/Linux Administrator to work at our client site in Bethesda, MD. This is a full-time employee position with Digicon Corporation.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Unix/Linux Administrator is responsible for the installation of OS and business applications in a Linux/Solaris environment.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Six to ten years of hands-on experience in administering Linux, AIX, and Sun Solaris (Linux = 3+ years; Solaris = 3+ years; Release Environment Procedures (1+ year); Release Management (2+ years) and UNIX Shell Scripting (1+ year)
    • Knowledge of user administration, security procedures and shell scripting
    • Experience with SUN, Veritas, EMC, BigIP, SAN and web technologies
    • Ability to use performance and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot system network problems
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
    • Familiarity with back-up solutions and with deployment tools such as installation of RPM packages desired
    • Must be a detailed-oriented, self-starter who is able to self-manage and research projects with little or no direction from supervisor
