    RESPONSIBILITIES

    UMDNJ is seeking a Scientific Programmer to join our team. As an integral member of a high performance computing team, you will adapt, debug, develop and test scientific codes and packages primarily designed to operate in highly parallel environments. Emphasis will be on software commonly employed in biological structure and dynamics analysis, genomics, proteomics, systems biology and other areas of interest in the life sciences and bioinformatics which require advanced computational techniques. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in both independent and team settings.

    REQUIREMENTS

    •  Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering or biological sciences (Advanced degree is preferred)
    •  Three years of relevant experience
    •  Demonstrable experience developing and maintaining codes in C, C++, JAVA, FORTRAN, PHP and commonly employed scripting languages (Perl, Tcl/Tk, bash shell), numerical methods and scientific libraries in UNIX and Linux environments
    • Experience adapting packages such as Autodock, UCSF DOCK, Modeller, AMBER, NAMD, GROMACS, R Statistics, R - Bioconductor, MatLab, Rosetta and other advanced computational tools for complex biological problems is highly desirable
    •  Experience working in highly parallel systems using a multiprocessor interface such as MPI (parallel programming) is a plus.
