    BACKGROUND

    The MRC-Centre, for Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry, Institute of Psychiatry, King's College, London welcomes applications for a position of Biostatistician. The SGDP Centre is a world renowned research institution aiming to facilitate interdisciplinary research at the interface between genetics and environment in the development of mental health and illness (http://www.iop.kcl.ac.uk/departments/?locator=993).

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful candidate will be expected to perform bioinformatics research of an international standard. The postholder will be responsible for integrated analyses of genomic, transcriptomic as well as behavioural and neuroimaging data, including those from the IMAGEN Project (http://www.imagen-europe.com), an EC-funded genexneuroimaging study of 20000 adolescents. The postholder will be expected to take a leading role in the analysis of these data as well the development of new techniques and will therefore need to be familiar with relevant statistical programmes. Expertise in expression and genetic analysis would be desirable and well as enthusiasm for bioinformatic exploratory analyses. The role will also include extracting data from datasets for use by different staff members and aiding them in their analysis and bioinformatics needs. The postholder will be encouraged to develop as well as to integrate new analytical methods and ideas into their post. The postholder will also have relevant past experience, and good organisational and communication skills.

    COMPENSATION

    Starting salary range GBP 33,070 pa (inclusive of GBP 2,323 London Allowance).
