RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a laboratory based position, reports directly to the Associate Director of Protein Analytical Sciences within the Applied Genomics organization and is expected to work independently on a daily basis. Candidate will be an experienced protein biochemist and be part of the Protein Analytical Science group within the Disease Sciences & Biologics organization at BMS. The candidate should have established track record and experience in utilizing and applying classical protein biochemical techniques (subcellular protein fractionations, chromatography, gel electrophoresis, immuno-affinity techniques etc..) to characterize proteins to support Drug target discovery and development activities. The individual should be proficient in basic cell culture techniques and experience with standard molecular biology techniques is required. Ability to develop ELISA immunoassays, enzymatic activity assays and other protein quantitation assays would be a plus.
The candidate is expected to be knowledgeable in all areas of proteomics, protein mass spectrometry, LC-MS, and MALDI-TOF and be able to utilize a broad scope of other instrumentation. Proficiency in protein mass spectrometry techniques would be a definite plus and is highly desirable. The candidate should be proficient with computer software including word processing, data evaluation, software interface with analytical equipments and design of experiments. The candidate must have expertise with writing/reviewing lab work practices and maintain regular scientific records in terms to laboratory notebooks. Experience with automation and laboratory instrument data management would be beneficial.REQUIREMENTS
- The candidate should have a strong interest in drug discovery.
- The individual should possess ability to handle multiple projects in parallel and closely collaborate & matrix with scientists within the group and with external customers.
- The candidate should have effective organization and presentation skills; be reliable, motivated, and have strong interpersonal communication skills amenable to work in a team environment.
- Strong personal attributes of integrity, perseverance in face of challenges, ability to tackle complex problems, scientific creativity and innovation are necessary to be successful in this position.
PREFERENCES
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or related field would be preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of experience preferred.
- M.S. in Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or related field would be preferred.
- 6 to 8 years of experience preferred.
