    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Complete Genomics is seeking a Senior Bioinformatician to perform validation and testing our human genome re-sequencing pipeline and genomics analysis tools. This role will include functional and statistical validation of pipeline results, including base calling, variant calling and annotation, multi-genome analysis and other analysis.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to formulate pipeline validation methods, including functional and statistical approaches. Ideally, a candidate will have prior bioinformatics validation experience.
    • Programming skills sufficient to automate common validation tasks (C/C++, Python, bash, SQL, etc); strong command line skills and ability to troubleshoot and diagnose software-related problems.
    • 4+ years of bioinformatics experience, with strong knowledge of bioinformatics fundamentals and at least 1 year of industry experience (or equivalent).
    • Previous experience manipulating, analyzing, and annotating very large genomic data sets, both in exploratory and pipelined fashions.
    • Experience QCing and troubleshooting automated analyses and annotations of sequencing data.
    • Previous experience with DNA sequence, variation, and annotation databases (dbSNP, refSeq, CCDS, UCSC, Ensembl, GO, etc)
    • Advanced degree in CS, bioinformatics or biology (with a very strong computational background) or equivalent experience.
    • Good collaboration & communication skills and the ability to participate in interdisciplinary team.
