    RESPONSIBILITIES

Complete Genomics is seeking a senior Computational Biologist to develop methods and tools for its sequence assembly pipeline and genomics analysis toolset. The role will require conceiving of analysis approaches to solve key problems in a next-generation DNA sequencing pipeline, then designing, developing, testing, and deploying pragmatic solutions. The new hire will work on a pipeline that each day transforms trillions of sequenced bases into high quality human genome analyses.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Exceptionally deep computational and analytic abilities, with significant programming experience solving problems in bioinformatics or next-generation sequencing
    • A background in bioinformatics methods development, ideally in genomics (variant calling, annotation, structural and copy number variation analysis, etc.)
    • Strong algorithm and implementation skills. Prior experience with C/C++ or Java, framework/API design, data structures and file formats, and Linux/Unix environments
    • Capable of understanding high-level scientific goals and translating them into concrete computational approaches
    • PhD in the life sciences, or equivalent experience in the field with a BS or MS in computer science OR a PhD in a quantitative field (CS, EE, physics, mathematics, etc) plus considerable software development and bioinformatics experience. Demonstrated knowledge and experience may take the place of an advanced degree.
    • Good collaboration & communication skills, ability to participate in interdisciplinary team
