    AIM OF THE POSITION

    The Scientist/ Senior Bioinformatician is part of the Research & Development department and responsible for developing new assays and diagnostic test for cancer patients. The scientist has a good understanding of biology and clinical need in cancer and has experience in biomarker identification and assay development. The scientist uses microarray-based gene expression data to identify biomarkers for tumor progression and response. The Scientist uses her/his experience with molecular technologies to evaluate new technologies and to implement new assay platforms. The Scientist discovers and validates new biomarkers and develops reproducible and standardized test for these biomarkers. The Scientist is working in a team of scientists, bioinformaticians and technicians that develops new diagnostic test that are useful in the clinic and approved by regulatory authorities.

    This position is funded by research grants from the European Union and will give the scientist the unique opportunity to bring research to clinical application and commercialization.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Development of new diagnostic tests for cancer
    • Evaluation and implementation of new genomic technologies and improvement of existing procedures
    • Assists with transfer of new tests to product support
    • Supports grant application and management, writing of scientific reports/ manuscripts/ patents and collaborations
    • Database management and Information technology
    • Supervision Bioinformaticians / lab technicians / students

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Post Academic level [biochemistry/molecular biology/bioinformatics] (PhD)
    • Relevant experience in statistics, bioinformatics and database management, excellent demand of working with large databases
    • Practical knowledge of information technology
    • Hands-on lab experience with genomic technologies (PCR, microarray, sequencing) and biomarker validation
    • Knowledge in cancer biology and pathway analysis preferred
    • Experience with assay development required
    Skills:
    • Understanding of commercial values
    • Computer skills/ software knowledge [Access/Oracle, Microsoft Office, MA analysis software, Programming Language MATLAB or R]
    • Analytical skills

    • Advising skills
    • English (written and spoken)
    • Systematic working

    PREFERENCES

    • Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical company a plus
    • Experience with regulatory authorities a plus

    Permanent position (starting with one year contract)
