    BACKGROUND

    Complete Genomics is an emerging DNA sequencing technology with the promise of high throughput, low cost sequencing of human genomes. The technology has proven itself by sequencing more than a thousand human genomes for customers from research institutions to pharmaceutical companies to clinical researchers. Complete Genomics is aggressively pursuing innovations to aid its customers in the study of human disease and to push its service into new markets.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Complete Genomics is seeking a Senior Scientist, System Development to help drive continual improvement to our sequencing platform. This individual will work closely with R&D biochemists to devise and analyze wet lab experiments, and will deeply analyze sequence data to identify process artifacts and understand the impacts of any process changes.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Experience with previous and next-generation DNA sequencing and genotyping technologies, ideally with roles in process development and improvement
    • Knowledge of common molecular biology laboratory techniques. Previous experience analyzing experiments involving these techniques
    • Previous experience manipulating and analyzing very large data sets. Software skills appropriate for this analysis (shell scripting, perl/Python, C/C++, SQL, etc
    • Strong statistical analysis skills. Experience with R ideal
    • Experience automating analysis workflows, ideally using Python
    • Advanced degree in CS, statistics, or bioinformatics (or biology, along with a very strong analytical background.) Commensurate experience accepted for exceptional candidates
    • 7+ years of analysis experience in industry; 2+ years in system development
    • Good collaboration & communication skills, and the ability to participate in interdisciplinary team
