Summary

The Bioinformatics Developer is responsible for working closely with biotech, pharmaceutical and medical (BPM) industry partners to tailor our products for their particular needs. This may take on several forms: implementing MATLAB and/or Simulink programs and models to solve specific problems, analyzing users' problems to determine the best approach, demonstrating our products to partners, running benchmark tests to determine our products' ability to solve specified problems, developing demonstration programs, application examples, and simulation models. As part of the BPM development team, this role will involve specification and implementation of bioinformatics tools, as well as close coordination with other development teams.

Qualifications

M.S in Biology, Math, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering and 5-7 years biotechnology industry experience

or

Ph.D., in Bioinformatics, Biology, or other Life Sciences degree and 3-5 years industry experience

Software development experience in MATLAB, Perl, C, C++ or Java is essential

Experience with MATLAB, S-Plus, R or similar technical computing language

Experience with standard Bioinformatics tools and databases such as BLAST, GenBank, GENSCAN, etc.

Excellent written and verbal communication

Proven ability to formulate realistic goals and meet commitments

Some travel required

Pluses:

Experience with MATLAB

Experience with Perl

Experience writing commercial software

Experience with various computer platforms (UNIX, Windows)

Knowledge of object-oriented design and implementation skills

Knowledge of Hidden Markov Model analysis

Good understanding of statistics
