    BACKGROUND

    The Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics (VIPBG), Department of Psychiatry, Virginia Commonwealth University, invites applications for a tenure-eligible faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. VIPBG is a highly collaborative interdisciplinary institute that brings together faculty from a diversity of backgrounds with complementary research programs aimed at understanding how genetic and environmental risk factors contribute to psychiatric outcomes and related behavioral outcomes (http://www.vipbg.vcu.edu).

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful candidate will be expected to establish their own research program, and be an engaged collaborator at the Institute.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • The applicant should have i) an MD or PhD or equivalent in genetics, psychology, biostatistics, epidemiology or a related field; ii) a successful track record of both publication and extramural research funding; and iii) an interest in areas complementary to current VIPBG expertise.
    • In particular, applicants whose research is in the area of (1) clinical and behavioral phenotypes relevant to psychiatric or substance use disorders; (2) psychometrics; or (3) bioinformatics are especially encouraged to apply.
    • The applicant should have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
    • For appointment at the Assistant Professor level, faculty member will be required to have an established research agenda and a clear potential for external funding, as appropriate, and potential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the department.
    • For appointment at the Associate/Full Professor level, faculty member will be required to have a well developed scholarly/research portfolio with evidence of multi-disciplinary applications and external funding appropriate to complement and expand existing expertise in the department.
    Joint appointments are possible with complementary departments.

    COMPENSATION

    Generous three-year start-up package.
