BACKGROUND
We seek an individual to fill a Research Specialist position in the Center for Microbial Genetics and Genomics (MGGen), a large (40+ undergrad, grad students, Post-Docs, and full-time research staff) microbial pathogen molecular genetics laboratory at Northern Arizona University. Researchers at MGGen are leading cutting-edge research that requires analysis of high-throughput genomic sequencing datasets as well as development and application of novel bioinformatics tools.RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicant will develop and apply microbial genetic and genomic bioinformatics, database and programming skills to assist MGGen scientific staff in identifying relevant data sources and tools, automating repetitive bioinformatics tasks, extracting custom datasets, improving existing and/or developing new data analysis tools and translating prototype informatics tools into more polished tools suitable for wider usage or release to the scientific community.REQUIREMENTS
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computational Biology, or a related discipline, and a track record of analyzing microbial genomic datasets e.g., DNA sequencing data, gene expression data.
COMPENSATION
