RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyzing large amount of data, understanding and modeling next generation sequencing instrumentation effects, chemistry and molecular biology reactions.
• Developing algorithms for data preprocessing, feature extraction, pattern classification, and statistical modeling.
• Working closely with system team to understand sequencing systems and develop analytical tools to drive effective experimental design and system optimizations.
• Implementing a multi-tiered set of test cases for algorithm validation and regression tests.
• Responsible for the design and development of the algorithms, testing and implementation, as well as documentation and communication of the algorithms.

EDUCATION

• Ph.D. or M.S. in Bioinformatics or Computer Science
• Training in statistics, computational biology, signal processing, pattern classification and image analysis
• Training in software design, OOP and design patterns
• Programming Skills: 3+ years in C++, 3+ years in Matlab or R, and Strong plus with experience in scripting languages, e.g. Python, Perl
• Strong candidates will be responsible, self-motivated, effective at describing their work to a technically sophisticated audience, and capable of working independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with English are required.
