Our Job Mission:
This candidate will join a Scientific Informatics Systems Group, and work closely with scientists and talented software engineers to re-define the NIBR-wide informatics systems to meet the challenge arising from drug discovery research. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated team player with a strong understanding of antibody/protein science, as well as data management and analysis needs associated with large therapeuticmolecule research. This person should have proven record of building effectivetools for scientists in a research environment and be capable of working as a team member or leading a team to deliver solutions to support NIBR biology research. This IT group serves the global NIBR research community to provide them with the cutting edge informatics platforms as well as in-depth data analysis services. The members in this group have a chance to participant in the groundbreaking medical research activities to re-define the grammar for medicine in the post-genome era.
Duties:- Actively work with scientists in NIBR biologics group to understand their needs and communicate with scientists effectively
- Define proper informatics solution(s) to meet their scientific needs
- Work with internal and/or external software teams to design proper solutions to meet scientists' needs
- Serve as a key expert analyst to guide the engineer team to design proper data standard, data model and analysis tools to serve NIBR-wide informatics needs
- Work as team member or lead software developers to deliver effective tools to meet our scientists' immediate needs
- Work effectively with different NIBR IT groups globally to ensure the solution effectively and efficiently implemented
REQUIREMENTS
- Ph.D. /M.S. in biology and/or an advanced degree in computer science
- At least 3-5 years working experience with a bioinformatics group in a biotech or pharmaceutical research environment
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills are required
- Proven capabilities interacting with scientists and being customer service oriented
- Ability to work with people with various background and capable of being an effective translator between scientists and software engineers
- In-depth knowledge of antibody/protein biology and related research techniques
- Extensive knowledge in the wide range of biological research processes, and data management tools/ applications used in biological research processes
- Good understanding and practical experience in fundamentals of software engineering
- Solid understanding of relational databases and familiarity with Oracle and/or SQL server
- Familiarity with web development technologies, such as ASP .NET.
