    BACKGROUND

    We are a federally-funded, Boston-based, biomedical research organization. Our Biomedical Informatics Team performs research and development to improve the way clinical science and care are conducted. Current initiatives include the development of natural language processing and machine learning technologies, methods of automated clinical quality measurement and improvement, and the development of computational platform for integrative analysis of genomic, biosample and clinical data. The multi-disciplinary team consists of a highly skilled group of PhD researchers, clinicians, systems analysts, project managers, and software developers. Resources include access to the complete medical records of over 18 million records through the world's largest installed electronic medical record system, a new 160 node high performance computing cluster, and access to incredibly challenging projects with the potential to change the way health care is delivered.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide technical leadership for data integration from various clinical applications and stores, research databases and files including 'omics data, and external sources.
    • Work as part of a development team, focusing on extraction of data from source systems, staging data, integration of disparate sources into the warehouse, and preparation of data marts and extracts supporting end user usage solutions.
    • Works collaboratively with business analysts and translates business requirements into enterprise information architecture and associated policies and processes to meet research requirements.
    • Develops conceptual, logical and physical data models to support collection, integration, and analysis of clinical and genomic research data.
    • Develops the architecture for staging area, data warehouse, data marts, and operational data stores.
    • Ensures data quality and data governance.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • 4+ years of professional experience in IT or Healthcare, as well as to 2+ years of experience developing data warehouse system
    • Must have hands on experience with ETL tools, such as SSIS, T-SQL, DataStage or other open source ETL Tools like Kettle, Jasper, clover, Talend.
    • Must have hands on experience utilizing databases like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL
    • Expert understanding of data integration problems, including validating and cleaning data
    • BS in Computer Science, MS preferred
    • Must have excellent analytical communication and documentation skills
    • Must take initiative and be a self-starter, be flexible, detail-oriented, a team-player, and work well independently, good problem-solver.
