    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful candidate will join a small group of bioinformatics and data management programmers and will be expected to contribute hands-on to business-critical projects. Contractor will be expected to handle all phases of software development projects for internal customers, beginning with the initial requirements gathering and analysis, iterative development and testing, and ending with documenting the lessons learned.

    We expect that most of software development in this position will take place in the Linux environment (Perl, CGI, and MySQL), but depending on candidate's skills additional work scope may be available with the Microsoft .NET. Contractor will also be asked to help configure and update Linux servers, and to develop project documentation.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
    • Proven knowledge of software development life cycle, stakeholder management, requirements gathering, software documentation and version control tools (Subversion).
    • Minimum of 5 years experience with the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP and Perl).
    • Prior experience with Linux systems administration.
    • Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies.
    • Intellectual curiosity, high level of emotional intelligence, ability to manage change, and strong results orientation.

    PREFERENCES

    • Experience with .NET technology.
    • Prior experience in bioinformatics programming and/or a degree in biological sciences.
    • Experience with LIMS systems.
    Candidates must be authorised to work in the US for any employer.
