Opportunity: Postdoctoral Fellow in BIOINFORMATICS @ UT Southwestern Medical Center--Dallas, TX (US)

BACKGROUND
The Quantitative Biomedical Research Center is newly established in the Department of Clinical Sciences at UT Southwestern Medical Center. It aims to foster collaborations involving quantitative methods and technologies in any aspect of biomedical research, particularly for understanding disease etiologies and developing treatment and prevention strategies. Currently, the center has four faculties, one biostatistician, one computational biologist, one research associate and several student research assistants. We are actively recruiting new members to join this new and dynamic group.
RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a candidate with experience in bioinformatics, and in particular the bioinformatics of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and high throughput genomic analysis. The candidate will assist in the development and implementation of bioinformatics pipeline for NGS data analysis; analyze high throughput genomic data, and work with biomedical investigators.
REQUIREMENTS
- A Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, biophysics or other related disciplines
- Experience in bioinformatical tools and applied bioinformatics in a research environment
- Ability to effectively communicate with biomedical researchers
- Programming skills (R/MATLAB, C++, SQL, scripting languages)
PREFERENCES
- Experience in analysis of high throughput genomic/sequence data
- Experience with high performance computing in Linux environment
- Ability to design and implement web-based user interfaces, APIs is a big plus.
