Develop and manage workflows surrounding the organization, integration, curation, quality, and exploitation of internal and external content within the pharmaceutical research domain.
Primary Duties include:- Internalization of public and proprietary datasets.
- Developing and implementing quality assurance process and documentation for internalization of data.
- Manage workflow of internalisation, parsing, data manipulation/mapping to vocabularies and database loading
- Creates algorithms to manipulate multiple datasets to integrate content, either in batch or "live" modes
- Front line customer support. Works with customers to identify data needs/issues and supply/change as required in a timely manner.
- Supports a limited number of larger, more involved projects providing scientific advice and technical implementation
- Develops and maintains vocabularies and ontologies and cross mapping tools to connect text & keywords to identifiers
- Partners with Other BT and Research lines on establishment and maintenance of standard vocabularies and ontologies for Research
- Deployment of ad-hoc & custom web tools without supervision
- Consumes and develops common web services to interact with internal data
REQUIREMENTS
Education - MS (PhD preferred) in Biological Science, Bioinformatics, or Biotechnology
Experience - in industry or applied science preferable, experience in creating and maintaining ontologies highly desireable
Required Skills: Bioinformatics Analysis experience; SQL & ETL; File management & Parsing (SRS, XML, RDF) vocabulary management and text extraction; algorithm development; ability to relate technology solutions to scientific problems; knowledge of basic concepts in pharmaceutical research;PREFERENCES
Additional Skills desired: Perl/Python; Web/Cgi programming; knowledge of webservice protocols, Unix command line; Experience in data federation via web-services and or federation tools such as composite an advantageLOCALE
