    BACKGROUND

    We are a federally-funded, Boston-based, biomedical research organization. Our Biomedical Informatics Team develops next generation software applications and analytical tools and Data Warehouses to improve the way translational research is conducted and clinical care is delivered. Current initiatives include building an informatics platform that will support a large scale translation research project for integration and analysis of clinical, biospecimen and genomic data. We have multi-disciplinary team consists of a highly skilled biomedical researchers, clinicians, systems analysts, project managers, and software developers. Resources include electronic medical record system, a new 160 node high performance computing cluster, and access to incredibly challenging projects with the potential to change the way health care is delivered.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Work with Scientific Director to identify and document development goals, both short and long term
    • Create long term project plans and communicate progress toward these goals
    • Identify timelines and owners of individual tasks for both in-house and consulting development teams
    • Manage deliverables of up to 10 team members across several sub-projects using automated task-management software (JIRA)
    • Identify and escalate impediments to progress to senior management in a timely fashion
    • Maintain and improve upon software development methodology
    • Maintain team cohesiveness
    • Ensure that each member of the team is aware of his or her priorities
    • Work with IT team (systems administrators) to set system performance and uptime criteria and follow through on IT-related issues
    • Prepare and maintain project plans, project budgets, official correspondence, etc.
    • Follow official government reporting requirements & submit reports on a timely basis
    • This is a hands-on PM position, not a director or program level oversight position

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Candidates must have some working experience as a project manager on full lifecycle software development projects.
    • Will consider exceptional systems/business analysts with some project management experience.
    • Candidate must be task-oriented and possess strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
    • Candidates should be comfortable working in a start-up environment with a small but growing team.
    • Healthcare-related software development experience is preferred but not required
