The Practice Manager will recruit, direct, lead, coach, develop and motivate staff, making sure the accountabilities are clear, objectives are delivered and competitive advantage created through clear linkages between investment in people and business performance. This role will focus key practice skills in the areas of greatest impact, maximizing the benefit of the unique domain skills and technical expertise. The Practice Manager will also oversee the measurement, assessment and proactive communication of the performance of the local team line to facilitate continuous improvement of performance. This role will also control and monitor all costs, capacity planning and utilisation for the local team to support the achievement of operational plans within budget.
The Practice Manager will track RDI deliveries and broader AZ initiatives to determine where work relevant to the practice is done, and drive the formalization of knowledge developed internally, and the integration with outside knowledge. The Practice Manager will support the Informatics Practice
Leader in building a community (e.g., organize practice events) and help members of the practice build a specialization relevant to the needs of the practice and the R&D business as a whole. The role will lead and direct Informaticians/Information Scientists providing support for drug discovery
and development in project teams and across functions. The role will proactively drive innovative approaches, promoting an environment in which innovation can flourish and satisfy the innovation needs of R&D through improvements in productivity, quality, competitive positioning and customer
focus and growth.
Duties:- Drive the RDI vision and strategy for the practice, participate in the RAS process and lead performance management for the local team to ensure the effective delivery of business objectives within timescales and quality standards.
- Create a positive team climate of continuous improvement and recruit, lead, develop and motivate staff to achieve objectives and deliver competitive advantage through clear linkages between investment in people and business performance.
- Control and monitor all costs, capacity planning and utilisation to support operational plans and define effective controls in line with RDI standards
- Contribute to the development of global policies and programmes to support and develop the business and ensure effective implementation in own area

- Degree or relevant business qualification
- Involvement in pharma thought leadership networks and organisations
- Experience of working and leading leaders in a global organisation with
- Experience of leading business area strategy
- Budget management experience
- Experience of programme management
- Experience of leading teams in a matrix organisation
- Strong communication, influencing and negotiating skills
- Strong relationship and team building skills
