    RESPONSIBILITIES

    There is an exciting opportunity to lead a multi-disciplinary team of information experts to support the Oncology and Infection Innovative Medicines Units (iMed). The successful candidate will have experience in an Oncology setting and also possess significant experience in the delivery of informatics and information solutions in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment. The role-holder will report to the Director of the Oncology and Infection business unit within R&D Information. A key goal of the newly formed RDI function is to provide the right information at the right time to support critical drug projects in effective decision-making.

    The successful candidate will be required to work in a collaborative matrix environment and deploy both tools and capabilities to support Oncology driving strategic usage of predictive science, personalized healthcare, clinical trial design & interpretation and the use of patient outcome information in drug R&D.

    Duties:
    • Work with senior Oncology stakeholders and your team to deliver a set of prioritized projects and services that demonstrate value to the project leaders within Oncology.
    • Work with Oncology R&D drug projects identifying and delivering informatics solutions to address data management, analysis and information interpretation challenges
    • Work collaboratively with Informaticians/Information Scientists to deliver scientific information services and projects.
    • Co-ordinate and develop clearly-aligned governance processes
    • Responsible for reporting impact and value that is aligned to the investment proposition within Oncology
    • Responsible for local portfolio delivery
    • Act as expert in Information Science/Informatics decision making processes, leading elements of, and contributing to, the overall informatics/information science strategy for Oncology
    • Direct a portfolio life-cycle of informatics/ISA projects and services to maximise effective use of scientific information in Oncology
    • Create a positive team climate of continuous improvement: lead, develop and motivate staff to achieve objectives, and deliver competitive advantage through clear linkages between investment in people and business performance.
    • Proactively engage and lead in knowledge sharing and peer support to build R&D knowledge and expertise in Oncology portfolio and science

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Experience and knowledge of drug discovery processes, cancer biology, personalized healthcare approaches and supporting genomic analyses
    • Extensive experience (6+ years) in the application of information and knowledge management within drug discovery or life science industries
    • Bachelors degree in a Life Science, Computer Science or equivalent experience
    • MSc or PhD in Bio/Chem/Medical Informatics or Cancer biology
    • Excellent communication and collaborative skills: demonstrating the ability to work with others to achieve aligned objectives
    • Expertise in one or more scientific domains (e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Translational Science, Clinical Science, Healthcare etc.)
    • Excellent awareness of key Information Science sources (both academic and commercial)
    • Experience of leading global information delivery or tool development projects.
    • Experience of developing informatics strategies and plans for complex R&D challenges.
