Bioinformatics Associate Research Scientist-Proteomics

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. In an unprecedented effort to identify the genetic changes that give rise to some of the world's deadliest childhood cancers, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in collaboration with Washington University has launched the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Currently, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an opening for a Bioinformatics Associate Research Scientist-Proteomics (Job Number 20477).
The Bioinformatics Associate Research Scientist in the Proteomics Core develops and applies proteomics software to analyze proteomics data. Identifies and quantifies proteins and posttranslational modifications based on mass spectrometry raw data. Focuses on experimental design, data processing, statistical analysis, database development, data visualization, data storage and distribution. Trains investigators and new users to use bioinformatics tools in the disease, biotechnology, and statistical fields. Ensures that efficient and prompt help is provided to the SJCRH investigators.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, or related field is required. Ph.D training must include research related to bioinformatics (such as analysis of sequence data, microarrays, SNPs, image data, proteomics data, or biological pathways; development of algorithms, statistical methods, or scientific software); OR, if Ph.D with no bioinformatics research, then two (2) years of pre-or postdoctoral experience in Computational Biology or Bioinformatics research is required.
- Experience with programming languages such as Perl, C, or Java required
