    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated bioinformatics analyst to work in the areas of data analysis and informatics for next generation sequencing, gene expression, genomic and epigenomic profiling. The successful candidate will participate in multiple projects involving integration of high-volume data sets, design and implementation of data processing pipelines, and analyses of next generation sequencing, gene expression, genomic and epigenomic data.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Eligible candidates should have a Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field with at least three years' experience. The successful candidate will have experience with programming and high-throughput analysis of biological data, preferably of gene expression and genomic data, and will be familiar with widely used genomic databases and software. Programming experience in a UNIX/Linux environment using languages such as Perl, Python, R, Matlab or Ruby, and relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL is required. Experience with object-oriented programming in Java and internet programming (JavaScript, Ajax, HTML, Apache, Tomcat) is desirable.

    In addition, this candidate must have excellent communication skills (both orally and in writing) and be self-directed, independent, and highly organized.

    COMPENSATION

    Salary will be competitive and commensurate with level of experience.
