    This position will be responsible for developing a novel imaging database for microscopic images for drug discovery. They will also develop and maintain sophisticated data management schemes for imaging in support of data intensive biological research efforts.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • PhD in computer science, bioinformatics, or closely related discipline
    • 2 years of practical programming experience in common scientific and technical languages (e.g. Java, J2EE, C++, Matlab, R, etc.)
    • Established track record of bioinformatics or computational biology research as shown by at least 5 peer-reviewed publications in these fields, of which at least two publications must report on novel algorithm development

    PREFERENCES

    • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail
    • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team-based environment
    • Established track record of applying feature selection, machine learning, and novel data representation techniques to research problems
    • Research experience in chemical biology and chemical informatics
    • Experience in collaborating with experimental researchers in fields of biology or pharmacology

    LOCALE

    COMPENSATION

    $32,000-$37,000/annually plus full benefits package.
