• SUMMARY

    Company: Tempero Pharmaceuticals
Role: Bioinformatics / Genomics and High Content Data Analyst / Programmer
Experience Level: BS/MS in computer science, statistics, mathematics or bioinformatics plus 5-7 years of academic or industry experience; or a PhD in a related field plus 2-3 years of experience.

    BACKGROUND

Tempero Pharmaceuticals is a new pharmaceutical company located in Cambridge, MA, as well as a fully-integrated discovery performance unit within the immuno-inflammation center of GlaxoSmithKline. We are focused on developing novel therapeutics to modulate T cell function for the treatment of autoimmune and chronic inflammatory disorders. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team and establish our bioinformatics capabilities. The individual will have the opportunity to make significant and high-impact contributions in a dynamic small group setting focused on Th17 and Treg immuno-modulation.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will play a key role in computational and statistical analysis of high-throughput gene expression, ChIP Seq, and multi-parametric data in the context of dissecting biological processes, target identification/ validation, and biomarker discovery. Meeting these objectives will involve the implementation and application of existing software suites, as well as development of customized algorithms.

    Priorities Include:
    • Develop data analysis strategies, write algorithms, and deploy computational tools for the exploration of high-dimensionality datasets.
    • Conceive, implement and test statistical models; work with wet-lab researchers to translate these models into testable experiments; analyze data from experiments.
    • Help develop toolsets and bioinformatics applications that embed analysis methodologies to be published and distributed internally, to external collaborators or to the biomedical community at large.
    • Help implement and manage database structures for storage and retrieval of datasets generated within the projects, or imported from public databases.

    REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should have outstanding academic and professional track records; have a demonstrated history of developing successful algorithms; demonstrate proficiency with the numerical, statistical and programmatic tools needed for the exploration of high-dimensionality datasets; be innovative and analytical thinkers with strong communication skills; and work well in an inter-disciplinary team.

Significant experience with at least some of the following is required:
    • Statistical programming using MATLAB and/or R
    • Computational methods, including experience with algorithms, data analysis, applied mathematics and statistics
    • Developing computational tools and software for bioinformatics applications
We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about taking a hands-on, data driven approach and collaborating with scientists and engineers in a stimulating work environment characterized by intellectual rigor and commitment to drug discovery. Well-qualified applicants will be considered even if they possess no specific training in the Biomedical Sciences. Relevant backgrounds include formal training or notable experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Cheminformatics, Quantitative Modeling and Software Engineering.
