BACKGROUND

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Thoroughly analyses and interprets data from various sources (microarray, NGS, FACS, proteomics �) and provides high added value to biologists by integrating statistical results in their biological context and by relating data from diverse origins
• Suggests innovative ways for taking best advantage from available data within the drug discovery context, with the particular aim of finding novel biomarkers and/or disease targets
• Applies state-of-the-art data analysis and statistical algorithms. When necessary develops software to implement new/published algorithms
• Provides daily bioinformatics support (differential gene expression analysis from gene chip array and NGS internal and public data, pathway analysis and data interpretation) to the local neurology and rheumatology therapeutic areas
• Interacts with Research scientists by participating actively and proactively in project teams, and in one-to-one discussions with scientists from the neurology and immunology departments, and advises them on possible relevant bioinformatics techniques, whether available in-house, at other sites, or potentially through collaborations
• As part of a international team, contributes to the development of Bioinformatics infrastructure and services
• Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge through the participation in conferences, external collaborations, and by reading and critically evaluating relevant scientific literature and thus contributes to improving the overall bioinformatics expertise of the department
• Presents experimental results, conclusions and future plans to project team members and scientists in other fields, and writes reports in English. Publishes scientific work in peer-reviewed journals
• Proposes internship projects and supervises students

• PhD degree in Statistics, Computer Sciences, Bioinformatics or equivalent
• Fluency in spoken and written English is required
• Local language knowledge (French) is an additional asset

• Two to five years of postdoctoral experience in bioinformatics including high-density data analysis on a variety of projects
• Strong background in biology, bioinformatics and statistics. Specialised knowledge of immunology and/or neurology would be an important asset
• At ease with software development independently of platform or language
• Familiar with the main software packages for bioinformatics and statistics (R strongly preferred)
• Good publication record in peer reviewed journals
• Experience in industrial drug discovery would be an important asset

• Very good oral and written communication skills. Able to effectively present scientific data to international standards
