    In summary, I am looking for a desktop support person who can handle dynamic (Startup) model.

    The individual will need to wear all hats from working with users on analyzing users' requirements, building computers, supporting them on both the office and scientific environments.

    The development skills are a plus and not requirement.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The ideal candidate will work with scientific researchers to provide support to the lab computing environment that demands uninterrupted service in the state-of-the-art biomedical research centre located in San Diego,CA.

    The candidate would need to help build specialized computing platforms, install and configure scientific applications. Customize system configurations to meet and exceed scientific demands. Work closely with researchers to help them with laboratory automation and robotics.

    Major Accountabilities:
    • Provide technical expertise for the planning and definition of new system requirements during the evaluation, selection and implementation of lab systems related to vendor supplied software packages/instrumentation systems
    • Consult with customers in devising new and improved solutions to streamline and/or expedite the delivery of improved laboratory research and its supporting business applications and processes
    • Use scripting languages and web technologies to add IT value to challenges faced by the scientists
    • Researching / evaluating, architecting, testing, and (third tier) support
    • Investigating future software solutions
    • Workstation Image Customization and Support
    • Create, track and close service tickets while delivering an excellent customer service experience
    • Build new PCs and workstations to custom specifications, integrate the hardware, install and configure the operating software and ensure visibility to the network in accordance with the security guidelines
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and interact with key executives
    • Professionalism and confidence
    Minimum Education/Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, computer science, engineering or technology
    • 3-5 years experience with troubleshooting, support for Windows, Linux systems, Servers, lab devices, MAC
    • Preferred: Scripting and/or programming skills for Automation Projects: experience with Visual Basic / VBScript, Java will be good
    • Excellent customer interaction and service delivery skills
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills

    PREFERENCES

    Look for Education/Experience:
    • Advanced degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related fields
    • Experience working in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industries
    • Scientific Instrumentation software application and system experience
    • Good understanding of hardware selection and configuration
