BACKGROUND
A Research Fellow position is available starting from October 1st at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB, A*STAR) in the Signaling and Cancer Genetics Division. We are searching for a postdoctoral scientist with expertise in next-generation sequencing data analysis and comparative genomics analyses.
We have recently developed a novel genetically engineered mouse model to study HBV-induced hepatocellular carcinoma. This system includes the Sleeping Beauty transposon system and we conducted forward genetic screens to detect liver cancer-driving genes. These genes and their related pathways constitute new potential therapeutic and diagnostic opportunities. Our aim is to integrate these findings with metabolomics data, expression data, and genomics clinical data.RESPONSIBILITIES
This person will be part of a laboratory focused on Cancer Genetics and will lead a project on genomic instability that should provide a first author publication. This scientist will also be involved in other projects for comparative genomics and analyses/interpretation of various datasets: expression, metabolomics, and high-throughput sequencing from clinical samples. The person must have a working knowledge of required tools and statistical methods.REQUIREMENTS
- The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Evolutionary Genomics, or a related field, and a proven track record.
- Advanced capability and research experience with a biostatistical package such as R/bioconductor and a scripting language such as Perl/BioPerl or Python/BioPython
- Scientific background, good understanding of genetics and genomics
- Ability to handle large quantitative datasets and analyses
- Familiarity with genomic data, tools, and datasets
- Strong initiative and ability to take leadership of assigned tasks and projects
- Highly self-motivated, excellent communication skills and strong desire to learn in a dynamic multi-disciplinary research environment
- Prior experience in oncology is a plus.
COMPENSATION
The compensation will depending on training and work experience. In addition, a housing subsidy will be provided for foreigners.HOW TO APPLY
