    BACKGROUND

    Norwich University seeks a full time, non-tenure track research faculty member in Bioinformatics to participate as a member of the Vermont Genetics Network (VGN) (http://www.uvm.edu/~biology/vgn/). VGN is a National Institutes of Health funded state program for building biomedical research infrastructure.

    Level of Assistant Research Professor for applicants with a Ph.D.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful candidate will provide research support for the VGN Bioinformatics Core, which assists faculty from across the state with microarray, genomics and proteomic mass spectroscopy data analysis. Support activities include analysis of gene expression (microarray) data, providing input on the design of microarray experiments, co-authoring research publications and providing basic training for microarray data analysis to VGN researchers on an as needed basis.

    Applicants with an interest in supporting massively parallel sequencing projects are encouraged to apply. This position is a support role as part of the VGN Bioinformatics Core. Appointment will be made at the level of Research Associate for applicants with M.S. degrees or at the

    REQUIREMENTS

    M.S. in Biological Science or related field, Ph.D. preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired. Familiarity with microarray data analysis is required. Training in statistics highly desirable. Continuation of the position is dependent upon external funding. Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
    • MS or PhD in Bioinformatics or related field (rank commensurate with credentials)
    • Experience in applied bioinformatics in a research environment
    • Experience analyzing microarray data
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work with undergraduates

    PREFERENCES

    • Training in statistics
    • High performance computing skills
    • Experience developing automated workflows
