RESPONSIBILITIES
The Human Genome Sequencing Center (HGSC) at Baylor College of Medicine seeks enthusiastic individuals to work with software in a rapidly evolving research environment to support the advance of sequencing technology, genomics research, and analysis.
As one of three large-scale sequencing centers funded by the National Institutes of Health, HGSC provides a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge genomic scientists. Entry-level tasks to be performed in this job include managing data flow for data publication including submission to national archives, as well as supporting the development and deployment of laboratory information management systems and new software tools to support analysis. Candidates should have experience with Unix programming tools and a strong desire to learn.REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of object oriented programming concepts and experience with biology and genetics are desirable. Candidates should have the equivalent of a B.S. degree in Computer Science or Biological Science and experience in one or more of the following:- SQL
- Scripting languages such as perl, groovy, or python
- Computational Biology or Genome informatics
