The successful candidate will join the Biological Systems Research Team at Philip Morris Products S.A. in Neuchatel, Switzerland. He/she will play a major role in the development of standard formats, semantic support and data processing applications for analysis of large scale data sets from various post-genomic technologies and their practical application in biomarker discovery. You will work in a multidisciplinary team that contributes to the development and maintenance of computational pipelines for systems biology data analyses.
Specifically, you will:- Support the enterprise functional genomics/systems biology data management, integration and analysis platform
- Develop and implement appropriate and strategic software systems and tools including data integration between such systems.
- Perform specialized bioinformatics software development, programming and database development services with respect to the aforementioned functional genomics/systems biology platform
- Design and implement data processing and analysis pipelines for production-style data generated by Affymetrix, next-gen sequencing and protein array platforms.
REQUIREMENTS
- A first degree in biology/bioinformatics and a relevant higher degree such as an MSc in Bioinformatics or Computer Science, PhD or equivalent work experience is required
- Demonstrated academic and/or industrial experience in bioinformatics data integration, curation, analysis and software development with particular focus on high-throughput 'omics technologies (microarray, next-gen sequencing)
- Excellent knowledge of 'omics technologies data standards and their applications (e.g. MAGE-TAB)
- Demonstrated experience in bioinformatics workflow management system software development (e.g. Galaxy)
- Excellent programming skills in Perl, Python, C/C++, Java, solid expertise in R/Bioconductor or MATLAB would be a plus
- Well developed interpersonal and scientific communication skills are a prerequisite together with excellent spoken and written English
