BACKGROUND
The Rockefeller University, a premier biomedical research institution located on Manhattan's Upper East Side, seeks a Bioinformaticist to work in Hospital Informatics.RESPONSIBILITIES
Will analyze molecular level data in the Data analysis Core of the Center for Clinical and Translational Science. Will work with laboratory personnel to help design bioinformatics components and conduct data analysis of the resultant data. Will perform associated customized programming as required and support the continued use and education for commercial software products GeneSpring and Ingenuity.REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree required; educational emphasis in bioinformatics, statistics, computer science, molecular biology, or genetics preferred. Must have bioinformatics skills including a strong understanding of basic biology, genomics, microarrays, high-content data analysis, and genome databases. Strong computational skills in the areas of object-oriented programming and database experience are required. Some combination of experience with Java, Python, Ruby on Rails, Perl, R, Bioconductor, Oracle DBMS development, and SQL required. Must have understanding of the principals and use of biostatistics as applied to molecular level data. Next-gen sequencing pipeline experience considered a strong plus.LOCALE
