    BACKGROUND

    The Bioinformatics Core at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City (Manhattan) is seeking a Systems Administrator to work as part of the team supporting the computational resources used by the Computational Biology Center and MSKCC staff. MSKCC is the world's oldest and largest private institution devoted to prevention, patient care, research and education in cancer. The Computational Biology Center pursues computational biology research projects and the development of bioinformatics resources in support of cancer genomics research.     RESPONSIBILITIES

    Monitoring system and network performance, configuration and support of HPC systems and applications, account administration, system optimization, and user support.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelors degree or equivalent. Operating Systems: Linux (RHEL, CentOS, SLES, Mac OS X). Basic Systems Administration: Linux installation, maintenance, upgrade, backup, NFS, TCP/IP networking. Experience with Linux/UNIX server and cluster hardware setup and configuration, performance monitoring, tuning and troubleshooting. Experience working with highly complex system implementations and organizational processes. Effective communication skills.

    PREFERENCES

    Experience with LDAP, Nagios, Apache HTTPd, Tomcat, iptables, rsync, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, SGE, Courier, and Postfix. Experience with parallel and clustered file systems. Experience programming in Python, Ruby, Perl or Java. Familiarity with bioinformatics and computational biology. Familiarity with Amazon Web Services cloud computing platform

    TERMS

    Full-time, to begin ASAP.
