RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote the understanding and utilization of bioinformatics tools and services used by principal investigators supported by the RI-INBRE program and by others at the University of Rhode Island as well as the Network institutions in the state.
- Provide consultation in areas of expertise.
- Organize seminars, workshops, and short courses relevant to the needs and interests of the user community.
- Develop collaborative relationships with the North East Cyberinfrastucture Consortium and the Brown University Center for Computation and Visualization.
- Procure appropriate software and hardware tools and manage these resources for RI-INBRE.
- Ensure that software resources located at the University of Rhode Island are accessible to the INBRE investigators at the Network institutions.
- Arrange and administer data storage and backup at a centralized location.
REQUIREMENTS
- Doctoral degree in a field relevant to bioinformatics
- Demonstrated experience with -omics data analysis and annotation
- Demonstrated record of computational, programming, and database administration skills
- Demonstrated record of scholarly activity in the field
PREFERENCES
- Demonstrated prior experience in providing bioinformatics services
- Membership in professional societies, such as the Society for Computational Biology
TERMS
Full-time, non-tenure-track. Appointment is for one year, with renewal contingent on performance and funding.HOW TO APPLY
