    Opportunity: Research Assistant Professor, BIOINFORMATICS (#108627) @ University of Rhode Island--Kingston, RI (US)

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Promote the understanding and utilization of bioinformatics tools and services used by principal investigators supported by the RI-INBRE program and by others at the University of Rhode Island as well as the Network institutions in the state.
    • Provide consultation in areas of expertise.
    • Organize seminars, workshops, and short courses relevant to the needs and interests of the user community.
    • Develop collaborative relationships with the North East Cyberinfrastucture Consortium and the Brown University Center for Computation and Visualization.
    • Procure appropriate software and hardware tools and manage these resources for RI-INBRE.
    • Ensure that software resources located at the University of Rhode Island are accessible to the INBRE investigators at the Network institutions.
    • Arrange and administer data storage and backup at a centralized location.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Doctoral degree in a field relevant to bioinformatics
    • Demonstrated experience with -omics data analysis and annotation
    • Demonstrated record of computational, programming, and database administration skills
    • Demonstrated record of scholarly activity in the field

    PREFERENCES

    • Demonstrated prior experience in providing bioinformatics services
    • Membership in professional societies, such as the Society for Computational Biology

    TERMS

    Full-time, non-tenure-track. Appointment is for one year, with renewal contingent on performance and funding.
