BACKGROUND
Celmatix, Inc. is a rapidly expanding, New York City-based biotechnology company targeting the reproductive medicine sector. Infertility treatment is complex, and at Celmatix, we are developing diagnostic assays to help guide clinical decisions in a more data-driven way, improve reproductive outcomes, and promote "best practices" for infertility treatment. The lead product under development is a diagnostic test called FertilArrayTM. This test will be a novel, non-invasive method for assessing genetic and other prognostic indicators of egg quality and female infertility. The development of FertilArrayTM is based on the proprietary Celmatix FertilomeTM DNA Knowledgebase for identifying genetic biomarkers related to female fertility.

We are currently seeking Bioinformaticians to be part of our growing team. You will help develop bioinformatics pipelines for genetic biomarker discovery and validation (including array CGH, whole genome sequencing, and targeted re-sequencing data) and aid in the analysis and biological interpretation of results. A successful candidate will have a strong background in genomic data analysis, data mining and integration, computer programming, and work effectively in a fast-paced start-up environment. You will be working as part of a team with other bioinformaticians and machine learning scientists in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment to explore, develop, and implement functional and innovative diagnostic/prognostic models.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement computational algorithms and statistical analysis pipelines for biomarker discovery and variant calling using next-generation sequencing and other high-throughput genomic data including array CGH

Assess data quality for multiple genomic platforms

Evaluate published bioinformatics tools and resources for analysis and interpretation of genomic data

Optimize existing code and algorithms for effective data mining and interpretation

Present results through clear and concise representation of ideas and concepts to other team members and the management

Actively publish research concepts and findings in reputed journals and present at relevant meetings

Manage multiple independent projects under tight deadlines

Work independently with minimal supervision as well as with other team members to tackle complex problems
REQUIREMENTS

MS/PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related discipline

Proficiency with standard bioinformatics tools and databases (1000genomes, HapMap, dbSNP)

Experience in analysis of next-generation sequencing and other genomic datasets

Strong understanding of molecular biology and genetics

Strong programming and scripting skills (Perl/Python/Java/C++)

Expertise in MatLab or R

Knowledge of basic statistical and machine learning concepts

Knowledge of database programming and SQL are desired but not required

Strong problem solving, written, and verbal communication skills
