RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research and Development at Exiqon A/S in Vedbaek, Denmark seeks an experienced bioinformatics research scientist to help us develop a rapidly growing life science tool business based on up-to-date sequence information and state of the art bioinformatics algorithms.

As Bioinformatics Research Scientist at Exiqon you will be scientifically responsible for our automated qPCR assay design and qPCR data analysis pipeline, with a particular focus on the development of new products that intelligently apply the newest technologies and latest biological information to provide our customers with class leading scientific research tools. You will be working with multidisciplinary and enthusiastic teams from Research and Development, Manufacturing and Sales and Marketing. Together with these teams you will develop and bring to the market molecular biology tools backed by strong bioinformatics solutions for the life science research field, in particular for the detection of microRNA and mRNA.

Main Responsibilities:

• Develop new data analysis and report generating pipelines.
• Advanced sequence identifier lookup and sequence meta data visualization.
• Maintain and digest information from public gene regulation databases.
• Define and invent market competitive Life Science products that satisfies the customer requirements.
• Lead research and development activities in Exiqons Life Science product development projects, occasionally manage the entire project.
• Provide scientific input in writing and figures for the marketing of Life Science products.
• Stay updated with state of the art life science solutions.
• Work with Sales & Marketing as well as Manufacturing to ensure the successful and timely delivery of a project; typically a project leading to a new product or change in an existing product.

REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications and Experience:

• Ph.D. in bioinformatics, systems biology or similar
• Confident in PostgreSQL, Ruby and R or equivalent languages
• Experience with large bioinformatics datasets and databases
• Knowledge of biological pathways and gene regulatory systems
• Experience with data analysis pipelines
• Working knowledge of Linux
• Experience with Java or C
• Experience or understanding of qPCR, PCR or molecular biology techniques
• Project management
• Excellent English oral and written communication skills
