BACKGROUND
The DZNE in Gottingen is looking for a Bioinformatics PhD and/or Postdoc in the group of Dr. Stefan Bonn
The DZNE is a center of excellence within the Helmholtz Association that performs translational research on neurodegenerative diseases. The center includes eight high-performing sites in Bonn, Dresden, Gottingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tubingen and Witten. The DZNE Gottingen has a specific focus on genome-environment interactions and epigenetic processes in neurodegenerative diseases.RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidates will work in a multidisciplinary environment of neuroscientists, clinicians, and bioinformaticians. The main focus of the research will be to understand the molecular basis of neurodegenerative diseases by charting NGS derived epigenetic modifications (histone modifications and DNA modifications), and gene expression data (RNA, small RNA) in healthy and diseased mouse and human samples.REQUIREMENTS
Successful applicants should have the following qualities:- Degree in Bioinformatics or Computer Science or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in Bioinformatics research, preferentially experience with NGS data analysis and machine learning
- Highly motivated with an interest to work in an interdisciplinary team spanning genomics and neuroscience
COMPENSATION
Employment, payment and social benefits are determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag fur den offentlichen Dienst - TVoD).LOCALE
