    BACKGROUND

    The Principal/Senior Software Engineer designs, codes and tests application software for microfluidics based hardware platforms. This individual works within a team to develop instrument user interface software, algorithms, data collection, communication interfaces, device control, low-level device abstraction, and business-layer logic.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Define and implement the product and software architecture
    • Write specifications, detailed design documents, V&V test plans/reports and other product development documentation
    • Work with R&D, Marketing, Product Development and customers to define customer focused software work flow.
    • Participate in system and software design reviews
    • Design, code, and test software using C# and the .NET framework.
    • Develop control applications for custom hardware.
    • Support internal R&D, Product Development, Manufacturing and Service/Support with custom software tools.
    • Work in a team environment, as well as independently
    • Perform Software Quality Assurance tasks
    • Other tasks as reasonably requested by the immediate supervisor

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Experience designing stand-alone Windows applications (preferably using C#) in a multi-threaded windows forms application environment and the .NET framework
    • Experience with .NET 3.0 and the Windows Presentation Foundation
    • BSCS or related degree, with 8 plus years of experience in a commercial environment
    • Ability to understand and solve cross-functional design issues
    • Experience writing software for instrumentation and/or process control
    • Experience with instrumentation, systems integration and troubleshooting
    • Experience developing software for Medical Devices (in an FDA regulated environment).

    PREFERENCES

    • C++ and assembly software for DSPs, micro-controllers, and other embedded systems.
    • Experience using vision systems and image processing for quality control and automation
    • Experience in microfluidics and/or optical detection platforms
    • XAML user interface design experience
    • Proficient with MS Project, Access, Excel and InstallShield
